I am my best self when I am climbing a mountain, wheezing and sweaty, dirt under my nails and hair slicked to my head. Most days, I eat out of a bag, drink my water from a stream, and sleep on the ground. What I lack in glamour, I make up for in a determination to find beauty in the next epic landscape, jaw-dropping sunset or tiny flower full of exquisite detail. I am a photographer and explorer. I'm a rule follower with just a touch of the rebellious. I am adventurous. I love people, but I am an introvert who is most content when wandering alone with my camera. Photography is the way I interact with the world and communicate, relate and connect with others. I invite you to browse my galleries and join with me in this pursuit of joy, contentment, and wonder.
My Art
Having known many people who have come to the end of their lives with regret for not following their dreams when they were young and being unable to do so once they are older, I made the decision to leave my healthcare profession to pursue my passion for adventure and photography full-time. I am acutely aware that life is constantly changing and we are not guaranteed tomorrow. Capturing nature's fleeting moments is perhaps my small attempt at stopping time. When I lift my camera to my eye, the world fades away. Every moment is precious, and I am ever mindful not to take it for granted. My art reflects the way I feel when I am immersed in my craft... peaceful, happy, free. There is simplicity in the rhythms of nature. There is no need for pretense. My images celebrate the innate beauty of the subject precisely as I found it, without the need for embellishment. My subjects tend to be bright, bold, colorful, full of detail and quite varied.
My Adventures
My recent travels have taken me to many exciting places including England and France and also frequent trips to Alaska, Texas, The American Southwest and up and down the West Coast. Currently, I am backpacking and photographing my way along the Pacific Crest Trail, a trail that extends 2,659 miles from Mexico to Canada. I have completed 810 miles so far this year and still counting. I look forward to sharing these images with you in the future. There is still so much to see and explore.
